I’m not photogenic!
Concerns about not being photogenic are common, but the truth is, everyone has photogenic qualities; being natural in front of the camera can be challenging. My expertise involves using specialized lighting, various techniques, and coaching to help you feel at ease. If an expression seems artificial, I exclude it—my aim is to capture only genuine expressions that truly represent you. Allow me to guide you through the process; just enjoy it while I focus on delivering an outstanding headshot for you.
Do you retouch the images?
All purchased images undergo retouching to enhance visual appeal while preserving a natural and authentic appearance. The retouching process focuses on tasks such as evening out skin tone, correcting color, whitening teeth, removing blemishes, and eliminating clothing lint& wrinkles, ensuring a polished result.
How long before I receive my final images?
When your chosen images are selected, the retouching process is typically finalized, and you’ll receive the files within 48 hours. If a quicker turnaround is necessary, that can often be arranged. I strongly believe in providing you with your exciting new images as promptly as possible.
What file formats do I receive for my final images?
You will receive a high-resolution JPEG, along with additional versions featuring a recommended crop and web-sized formats tailored for social media platforms like LinkedIn.
Do I get all the images from my session?
During your session, numerous images will be captured, but only the ones you choose to purchase will undergo full retouching. The remaining images are deleted. I don’t believe in overwhelming you with a flash drive filled with un-retouched images; my focus is on delivering the best, ensuring that your selected images work effectively for you. I’ll assist you in narrowing down your choices to optimize the outcome of your session.
Do you work in a studio or travel to locations?
I conduct individual headshot sessions in my studio, utilizing specialized equipment for my distinct signature style. For corporate group headshots, I can bring my studio setup to your offices, ensuring a high-quality look without the need for your employees to travel to me.
What should I wear for my headshot session?
The key is to “Keep It Simple.” Opt for complementary, solid colors to ensure your clothing doesn’t overshadow your expression. Steer clear of busy patterns or textures. Women should avoid distracting necklines, and men should be mindful of worn shirt collars. Think of your wardrobe as your “logo” to the world—consider how you want to present yourself and whether it aligns with expectations. If uncertain, bring multiple options, and we’ll experiment to find what works best. Before your shoot, I’ll also provide a guide with additional information.
What advice do you have for hair and makeup?
Embrace a less-is-more approach—keep it light and natural. Since a headshot is a close shot, we aim to avoid makeup that distracts or overpowers. Steer clear of heavy eyeliner, sharp lines, excessive eyeshadow, too much blush, fake eyelashes, or clumpy mascara. Opt for a clear/neutral gloss for your lips, and in the weeks leading up to your session, stay well-acquainted with chapstick, especially if dealing with dryness from the winter weather.
